Sydney Trip: Day Two...
Today we finished off the drive to Sydney and had our first day there!
We were up bright and early again this morning and checked out of our motel before they even opened! We had another six hours of driving ahead of us and we wanted to have a little bit of time in Sydney before it started to get dark. Along the way we stopped in Kempsey and Newcastle to take a break and switch drivers. While driving one thing we started to notice was how absolutely INSANE some New South Wales drivers are! Luckily we didn't encounter any accidents on our way down. After what felt like aggeees Jackson finally drove us into Sydney. He had to turn into a real city driver and start pushing in between cars! Let's be honest things got pretty intense in the car and we were both on the verge of having a little hissy fit haha.
Once we checked into our hotel (We stayed at the Edgecliff Lodge Motel, which was less than a five minute walk away from a train station and only a few train stops away from Martin Place.), had a bit of a relax and got changed into some warmer clothes, we headed out onto the streets of Sydney, very excited and ready to adventure. I had Angel Place on my list of places I wanted to see and because it was a bit of a gloomy day but not rainy, we headed there. Angel Place is a little laneway that is home to an art piece called "Forgotten Songs". It is an installment of fifty displaced birdcages with the calls and songs of birds playing throughout them. The songs are of species that use to inhabit Sydney before developments forced them out of the area. I thought it was going to take ages to find this spot because other people had said that it took them hours, but we just typed it into Google Maps and it was only a few minutes from where we were after coming out of the train station. We went full instagram model and took heaps of photos and model shots!
After Angel Place we continued down to Martin Place (Sorry to the little lady I basically walked over the top of..eek!) and found our way to Circular Quay. We walked all the way from the Ferry Wharfs to the Opera House and then back around to Darling Harbour. For those of you who have no idea about any of those places..it was A LOT OF WALKING!
We also found this cute, old building and all I could see was an awesome instagram post with these photos!
After even more walking we settled on a dinner out at Nick's Bar and Grill. Jackson had a super yummy carbonara and I had a delicious lemony chicken. We also topped out meal off with a fair few cocktails. As per usual, I got pretty tipsy off my two and a half drinks (Yep- classic Alice spilt one all over the table) so we headed home to get some rest for the next day!
