Sydney Trip: Days Four & Five...
After the shortest stay in Sydney :( we got up and headed home on our long drive all over again!
On day four we got out of bed and checked out basically straight away. The place we stayed was nice enough to let us keep our car there while we went out for the morning. We really wanted to go up Centrepoint Tower but it was such a horrid day so we got a coffee and went into the building (not to the top), found a seat and drank our coffees there. We were going to have a bit of a shop an hang out but instead we headed straight off back to Sawtell. We had a lot of driving ahead of us again.
Once we got to Sawtell, we found our cabin at the Beach Holiday Park and chilled for the rest of the night. We had a late lunch on the road so we didn't really have any dinner other than a few snacks. At about 9pm, we headed to the Sawtell RSL Club to have abeer and have (my first ever) go on the pokies ahaha!! We had alot of fun and I was good enough to help Jackson lose $10..hehe
The next morning, we got up, checked out, and went back to Split Espresso for breakfast. We had coffees first, and followed them with a breaky burger and Jackson had the pancakes. We decided at breakfast to head over to Bellingen, where Jackson's grandma and family is from. We had a bit of a look around and even went to the cemetery to see the gravestones of some of the members of his family. After going to Bellingen, we went BACK to Sawtell and headed down to the beach for a quick (very quick) dip in the ocean. It was pretty cold, although I'd never admit that to Jackson. Once again we were back at Split Espresso for acai bowls. From there, we started our trek home. On our way out of Sawtell and Coffs Harbour, we stopped at the Big Banana! We ended up only playing some mini golf because all the other things were closed.
The only places we stopped for longer than ten minutes were a service station for lunch and Byron Bay to watch the sunset up at the lighthouse. it was so nice, we want to go back and just spend a week in Byron!
It was such a great experience driving all the way to Sydney and back. I really recommend driving the whole way and not sooking out with the plane. Although, now that we've done it once if we were to go again, we'd probably get the plane (or just take more time off of work) so we could spend longer in Sydney! The time we were there just was NOT long enough.
