On the Seventh Day of Christmas...

I got a little bit creative this year and I've made some mulled wine. It turned out super delicious too!
Chilled Mulled Wine
So I originally took the recipe from a picture on Google Images but by the end of the hour it took, I had done something COMPLETELY different.
1 lemon. 1 lime. 1 orange. 1 apple. 1 pear. 4 cloves. fresh nutmeg- about 10 runs along a microplane. 1 star anise. 4 tbs sugar. 1 bottle of red wine. pomegranate to serve.
Zest and juice the lemon, lime and orange. Place it all into a pot that will eventually fit the bottle of wine in it as well as everything else. Bring to boil.
Add cloves, nutmeg, and sugar. Simmer until thickened.
Add 1 glass of wine, 1 star anise, cubed apple and cubed pear. Bring to the boil.
Add the rest of the wine. Bring to the boil.
Because it is so hot in Australia for Christmas, I actually put my mulled wine back into the wine bottle after cooling and I serve it chilled. It is even nice used like a cordial with sparkling water. Serve with pomegranate seeds in glass.
