Bali Day Four: Markets, Shopping & a Chill Day

Bali Day Four: Markets, Shopping & a Chill Day

Since yesterday was pretty full on we decided to have a more relaxed day by just doing some shopping and yes, another Nalu bowl. Jackson’s family went down to the bottom of the Bali island to a place called Uluwatu. It’s a really nice beach for surfing and they had some friends down there that they went to visit. Jackson and I decided to stay in Canggu so we could adventure through the streets and shops. We left the villa at about 10:00am and jumped on our bikes to Nalu. From my two visits already, I hadn’t realised that there was a peanut butter bowl! I got that but again, was a little disappointed as it was still too runny for me. Jackson got the same as yesterday, and I HAVE to get that one next time. It’s a dragon fruit bowl which is bright pink and has really nice fruits too.

After our third date at Nalu, we jumped on our bikes and cruised the streets of Canggu. There’s a street in this village which has all the restaurants, cafes and shops regarded as the ‘main street’. From cute, little cafes to huge Ripcurl stores, there was everything. The market that we saw the other day is called ‘Bazar’. Some of the stalls weren’t open today but there was still so much to look at! I was on the hunt for these little woven handbags that everyone has. Every stall has them but I wanted to find some cheaper and not get ripped off for them. We went to every stall and even some of the actual shops around and they were all about 650,000 ($65AUD) rupiah each and I wasn’t having that. We went to one of the little stalls at the back of the markets and I found two perfect ones and bartered them down to 400,000 ($40AUD) rupiah for the two! There was heaps of other stuff at the markets but I wasn’t too keen on it and the heat was really starting to get to us. So we made our way back to the villa for a swim, stopping at some of the other shops on our way. There are heaps of nice things here but a lot of it in the shops is the same price as it is at home in Australia. Jackson said that later in the week we will go down to Seminyak to have a look at the markets there as they are a bit bigger and better.

So we headed back to the villa. On our way we stopped at the little shop near our place to get some chips and Bintangs. I think we might be a little in love with the orange ones. For the rest of the afternoon we just swam, had a drink and chilled. We even had some time to sneak in a nap.

After Jackson’s family got home, we all decided on dinner- pizza and corns. Jackson and his Dad hopped on the scooter and went to get them while we all hung out. I finished a few crosswords and word puzzles then they were home. Then all we did was eat, play some uni and go to sleep. It was awesome to have a chill day as he next two are going to be crazy!! Tomorrow we have a bike tour through villages and then the next day we are going snorkelling at Nusa Lembongan.
